Game Swap 2.0: Smarter, Faster, More Flexible

When we first launched Game Swap, I knew there was room for enhancements. The initial release was functional but lacked the polish and ease of use we envisioned. To truly elevate Game Swap, we decided to rebuild our entire backup system—laying the groundwork for a more robust and future-proof platform.

So What Did We Do?

With this major revision, our goal was to accomplish the following:

• Switch between multiple games with ease
• Be able to save states for easier restoration
• Do not increase the base price of our services

How Did It Turn Out?

We’re excited to share that Game Swap 2.0 delivers on all fronts, and then some. For a quick overview, here are the highlights of the new Game Swap features:

• New dedicated Game Swap page in the panel under Configuration
• Shows the current installed Game
• All customer servers have two Game Slots
• Install New Game Modal with a search bar to easily find any supported game. Games that have multiple types for modding or variations, like Minecraft, have all versions grouped together into a dropdown to easily select
• Option to back up the active server before swapping to a new game
• Switch the function on the Swap Slots to restore a previously backed-up Game State

FAQ

How do I get slots?

All current customers get two slots. In the near future, we will be adding an add-on to billing that will allow you to purchase more.

How long does it take to swap games?

It depends on the size of the Active server and the backed-up server (or new install). If it is a couple of gigabytes, it may take 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes. If it is a lovely Killing Floor 2 server with 50 GB of data, you may be looking at 10+ minutes depending on how busy your node is. All backups, if they are not in the local cache, will be pulled from the remote data storage, and this takes time. All progress will be shown as these actions occur.

How much does this feature cost?

All customers get two slots at no cost, and the option to add more will be available in the future.

What if I used the old Game Swap?

Nothing changes. Your server stays as it is until you make changes to it.

What about the old Game Swap?

It will remain as is until we are happy the replacement is bug free.

Can I restore a previous game state if I make a mistake?

Yes, with Game Swap you can restore any previously backed-up game state from your available slots, making it easy to undo mistakes or try out new configurations risk-free.

Are my backups safe if I switch games multiple times?

Absolutely. Each game slot securely holds its own backup, so you can swap between games as often as you like without losing any progress or data.

Will switching games affect my server’s settings or mods?

Switching games restores the exact backup for that slot, including settings and mods. When you return to a game, your previous configuration is restored just as you left it.
